shutterstock_86662345It was only a few years ago that cookbooks and magazines were the place to go when looking for a recipes. But in today’s fast paced world, many of us turn to the internet and social media sites to find recipe inspiration.

Of course, many of us still turn to cookbooks to learn cooking techniques and magazines for inspiration, but the internet is where many of us go to find recipes.

Pinterest is a pinboard-style photo-sharing website that allows users – especially women – to create and mange theme-based images collections such as events, hobbies, and yes, recipes. A simple search of Tofutti on Pinterest, will bring up a plethora of recipes and ideas.

Large recipe database sites like  Epicurious and Canadian Living are a great place to look, but individual food bloggers are often overlooked. These are people who love to cook and share their trials and tribulations while experimenting in their own kitchen. Often the food and ingredients are very accessible and the techniques are easily copies. For those people who like to watch the steps of a recipe unfold, YouTube is a great place to find step-by-step instructions. Whether you’re looking for simple recipes or complicated techniques, you’re sure to find a video demonstrating the skills you’ll need.  And don’t forget Google. A search in Google for the recipe or ingredient you’re thinking about will bring an abundant amount of choices.
