Party Ready Finger Foods and Dipping Delights

With so many people today being lactose intolerant or wishing to follow a dairy-free or vegan lifestyle, it’s important to have plenty of non-dairy treats on hand, especially for parties.  Regular sour cream and cream cheese can be replaced with our non-dairy, lactose-free Tofutti products on a 1:1 ratio when using Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream or TOFUTTI Better Than Cream Cheese.


Here are just a few ideas to show the versatility of Tofutti products for party treats.


Watch Them Disappear Devilled Eggs

Place 10 eggs in a pot filled with cold water. Turn the temperature to high and when the water starts to boil, turn the heat to medium. Set the timer for 10 minutes to boil the eggs.  Fill a large bowl (or the sink) with about 3 cups of cold water and add one dozen ice cubes.  Place the cooked eggs into the cold water basin.  This helps the shells to separate from the eggs and makes them easier to peel. After about five to ten minutes remove the eggs and peel off the shells.  Cut each egg in half lengthwise and using a spoon, remove the yolks to bowl.  Place the whites on a devilled egg plate or a platter.  Mash the egg yolks, add salt and pepper to taste, and instead of mayonnaise, add about 3 Tbsp of Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream and stir until a creamy but still somewhat chunky texture is achieved.  Spoon the filling back into the cooked egg whites and sprinkle with paprika and garnish with fresh parsley.


Kids Love Them Celery Logs

Kids most likely would not eat plain celery, but fill celery sticks with yummy ingredients and watch them gobble them up!

Wash celery and cut into three to four inch sticks.  Place on a large platter.  In a bowl mix half a container of Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream with half a container of TOFUTTI Better Than Cream Cheese.  Stir until thick and creamy.  Spoon filling into the celery logs.  Garnish with raisins, dried cranberries or alternatively, salsa or red pepper jelly.


Layered Mexican Dip

This dip disappears quickly! Serve the dip in a large flat bowl with a basket of tortilla chips and let the party begin!


First Layer: 1 package of Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream

1 package of TOFUTTI Better Than Cream Cheese

¼ cup of finely diced onion

1 tsp minced garlic

½ tsp salt

Add the ingredients into the large bowl of a stand-up mixer (you can also use a hand mixer) and blend until combined and the mixture is creamy and smooth.  Spoon onto a large serving plate or platter (or rimmed bowl).


Second layer:

Pour one small jar of purchased salsa over the first layer to cover.


Third layer:

Finely dice one fresh tomato and two green onions and sprinkle over the salsa.  You can add an optional layer of drained canned black beans or one can of refried beans if desired.


Fourth layer:

Sprinkle one package of shredded non-dairy cheese over top, sprinkle with parsley and serve.


1, 2, 3 Simple Homemade French Onion or Vegetable Dip

In the bowl of a stand mixer add the following ingredients:

1 container of Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream

1 container of TOFUTTI Better Than Cream Cheese

½ package of dry French Onion soup mix or Vegetable soup mix

Blend until smooth and creamy.  Put mixture into a cereal-sized bowl placed on a large dinner plate or platter and surround the bowl with potato chips, pretzels or celery and carrot sticks.  Great for parties or an after school snack.
