Mix and mingle with these dairy-free appetizers

And with casual entertaining comes the potential of catering to guests with dietary restrictions, such asdairy allergies.While this can be a challenge menu-wise, it doesn’t have to set you back in terms of planning or prep time.

In fact, with the following appetizers in your recipe repertoire, you can whip up quick, no-fuss and dairy-free crowd-pleasers to pair with your favourite cocktails in 30 minutes or less.

Smoked Salmon Canapés

If you’re in a pinch for time, this is an easy appetizer with few ingredients and even less time to prepare. The result, however, is big flavour for mass appeal.

Ingredients:

1 package smoked salmon

Sliced pumpernickel bread

Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese

1 jar capers

1 red onion, finely diced

Fresh dill, chopped

Directions:

Remove the crust from the bread, and cut the pumpernickel into perfect, bite-sized squares. Spread Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese on the bread. Top each piece with a morsel of smoked salmon, two or three capers, a sprinkle of diced onion and dill. Arrange on a platter, and serve.

Mini Baked Potato Bites

These adorable appetizers look just like mini baked potatoes, and pack as much flavour as theregular-sized side dish.

Ingredients:

9 small yellow potatoes, halved lengthwise

2 tsp. olive oil

Course salt and pepper

2 slices of crispy bacon, chopped(or veggie bacon alternative)

Fresh chives, chopped

Tofutti Sour Supreme

Preheat oven to 230 C (450 F). Toss your potatoes in olive oil, salt and pepper, and place your potato halves on a greased pan. Roast until tender, about 20-30 minutes. When the potatoes are cooled, arrange them on a platter with the cut side facing up. Top each half with a teaspoon of Tofutti Sour Supreme, and a sprinkle of bacon and chives. Serve, and enjoy!
