Father’s Day this year is on Sunday June 17th; the same week as the First Day of Summer on June 21st. Fire up the BBQ and celebrate Dad’s Day and the summer season. We’ve created a special menu that everyone in the family will love!
Salsa, Chips & Dip
Pour 1 cup of salsa into a small bowl and set aside.
Cut six to eight small tortillas into pie-shaped wedges and place wedges on a large baking tray. In a small bowl, combine 2 tbsp of olive oil with 2 tsp minced garlic and stir. Using a pastry brush, brush wedges on one side with oil/garlic mixture. Place in a preheated 350-degree F oven and bake for about six minutes. Check after four minutes and watch carefully to prevent them from burning. Once lightly browned, remove from oven and set aside to cool slightly.
To make the dip: in the bowl of a stand mixer, stir together once container of TOFUTTI Better Than Cream Cheese and 1 cup SOUR SUPREME®
Place mixture in a small serving bowl and place bowl in the middle of a serving platter along with the bowl of salsa. Surround both with the pita wedges and serve.
Canadian Eh? BBQ Bacon and Beef “Cheese” Burgers
1 lb bacon, cooked
2 lbs. ground beef
½ red onion, finely diced
Heat BBQ. Place a BBQ grill cooking mat on the grill. Add slices of bacon on to the mat and cook bacon until it is crispy on both sides. Remove bacon from grill and set aside. Drain fat from cooking mat and return mat to the grill (or just grill the burgers on the BBQ without the mat). Mix the beef and onions together in a large bowl and form into palm-sized patties. Grill burgers on both sides until cooked through. Once cooked, place two bacon slices on to each burger and then top with one slice of TOFUTTI SOY CHEESE SLICES
Place cooked burgers on heated buns and serve with condiments.
